IMG_4862.JPG On our way from Austin to Fort Stockton, TX we went through a large area of these windmills. More windmills than people out here, no doubt.

IMG_9037.JPG We arrived at the RV park in Fort Stockton. The park was the only thing off the exit - the offramp led right to the park, then ended. Further down the highway was a little more of a real town but the area around the park looked just like this.
IMG_9043.JPG The scenery was lovely, so after getting settled I walked around with the camera. This is a long walk through the desert called Six Shooter Trail.

IMG_9044.JPG In front of Six Shooter Trail - a mailbox shaped like a gun. (Not quite sure why there was a mailbox here - no sign of human population down the trail.)
IMG_9046.JPG Wide shot of the park, which was only about 10% full. There sure isn't much to visit near here - obviously a park meant for overnighters.
CRW_9066.jpg In all directions were mountains and plateaus of various elevations. After being in cities our last few stops it was nice to spend a night in the middle of nowhere.

CRW_9093.jpg You get the theme by now; this points you to the trail.

CRW_9094.CRW And one more directional sign... (And after all this, we didn't even go down the trail!)
CRW_9099.CRW At the office's entrance, some unique cacti.
CRW_9102.CRW Close-up of the cacti at the park office. It's a little like a giant snake plant.
IMG_4889.JPG We were behind on laundry so we used the park's machines, and on the wall was this funny sign.
