Another view of the place. It should be obvious due to all the wood on the side of a cliff that no smoking is allowed.!

Another sunset photo.

More sunset.

Still waiting for the sun to go down.

From another spot in the place, more sculpture - of acrobats...

"Keep Austin Weird" is a phrase seen around the city. Austin is definitely one of the strangeer (in a good way) cities in Texas. We joked afterwards that if we were forced at gunpoint to move to Texas, we'd choose Austin.

Back at the RV park, a Star Trek pinball machine in the park's restaurant. This park, the Austin Lonestar RV Resort, had a free pancake breakfast every morning. Overall a really nice park.

Inside the RV park. Clearly the nicest urban RV park we saw.

Our truck and trailer in their little spot.

Each spot was marked with a Texas-shaped sign. We're spot #29.

When I'm in San Francisco I always have dinner at the Buca di Beppo restaurant, just down the road from the Moscone Center. Austin has one too, so we stopped in.

The kitchen, which we were guided through on our way to our table.

Buca's menu. This is a big change from what I'm used to - "Small" and "Large" size items. Buca is mainly a family-style restaurant, serving massive portions meant to be shared. When Herb and I go to the Buca in SF we order enough food meant for a dozen hungry people - that's half the fun. Now they offer "small" portions too, which I guess makes sense but makes the place a little less fun. We got the garlic bread (Mmmm!), a pizza, and perhaps one other item.

Garlic looking into the kitchen.

It is now the Fourth of July, so we searched for and found the biggest party in Austin, the local orchestra and fireworks in a very large park. After walking quite a distance we finally found the fun.

People everywhere!

Austin is not your typically Texas conservative town. Here's a member of the local Libertarian party handing out copies of the Declaration of Independence.

A little girl's version of trailer life.

Another Libertarian handing out the Declaration of Independence. The Constitution may have been on the back. There was nothing political on the page other than a link to their web site.
