A New Orleans "above ground cemetary." We saw this on a bus tour of the city. This is the way cemetaries work here, probably because the city is built on a swamp and the ground so wet.

The "cheap seats" of the cemetary.

A nicer plot. These are bought by families, and generations of the same family might be in the same tiny crypt. Ewww.

Alysa's mint julep at Pat O'Brien's. Turned out there are two Pat O'Brien's in New Orleans; this was on the water, and we saw the other (deep within the French Quarter) later.

The architecture inside the French Quarter is very nice, but hard to photograph due to the narrow streets.

Inside one of the many stores selling New Orleans memorabilia. Dozens of stores sold the same stuff. This at least had a plastic alligator hanging from the ceiling.

Another of the same kind of store, different kind of decoration. Skeletons, and death in general, is a big theme here. It might be due to how they drive; they're the worst drivers I've come across anywhere.

IMG_7501.JPG
Another nice little building in the French Quarter.

We happened upon a used book store which was FILLED with books. Stacked higher than anyone could reach, on the floor, on the tables, etc. Obviously no consideration for fire codes or ADA requirements!

IMG_7514.JPG
Another nice building.

IMG_7516.JPG
Some buildings had passageways into a center courtyard, such as this.

There was a section of street vendors, and what is now a typical city street performer - a guy painted in silver. He's taking a rest. I'm not sure if the guy seated in front is selling something or just relaxing.

More street vendors on the left.
