View from our campground. Off in the distance towards the right is the Biltmore Estate.

The Biltmore Estate, a 250+ room mansion, the largest home in the US.

Dining room. Photos are not allowed, which means I still take photos but can't aim the camera or check the settings. So some of the interior shots are fuzzy like this one.

Mitch lounging on the deck of the Biltmore. We rented headphones for detailed tour info, which was well worthwhile.

A silly photo of ourselves. In one of the many bedrooms was this mirror, so we posed in front of the mirror and took the photo (again, without using the camear normally). It focused on the wall instead of us, but still fun.

Apparently the very first in-home bowling lanes in the country. Nothing automatic here; servants stood behind the wall and reset the pins by hand.

The indoor swimming pool, complete with underwater lamps. Impressive, as very few homes had any electric lights at all.

View from the front steps of the Biltmore. The white car is roughly where I took the earlier outdoor photo of the mansion.

Same topiary with the mansion behind. The gardens go on for quite a distance, but we only toured those very nearby.

Fish in the water.

A topiary horse and rider.

We drove nine miles from the mansion to the winery, and didn't leave the Biltmore property!
